School Picture Time...

So it is that time of year again and we just got the kids school pictures back. Now that I have three kids in school I have realized I will probably end up spending about $1000 in school pictures by the time all three are out of school. Of course I will always get school pictures. Things have definitely changed since I was in school. Now you have to pay to have a different color background. Plus, they offer retouching... Okay, that is the one that I find the most ridiculous. If I look at my school pictures I have at least 2 or 3 years where you can tell I was going through that goofy phase. Are parents that concerned with their child's appearance that they have to get school pictures retouched. I really just will never understand. I definitely care about my children's appearances. Clean hands and faces and reasonably clean clothes suffice in my house when we are leaving, but I know people who will change their kids the moment there is a spot on their shirt. What message are we giving our kids if we tell them that their school picture wasn't good or cute enough and mommy had to have it fixed. We should love our kids for all their goofiness and bad pictures because what will they laugh at when they are adults.
